Kristina Chyhryna
"My name is Kristyna. I am from Ukraine (Charkov). I live with my dad and my younger brother in Jihlava, the Czech Republic. We came here when the Ukraine war had started. Everything was so new for us. But now I have friends here and I feel so much better. I like exotic cultures like Japanese and Korean. I like differences in general, they make me try finding something beautiful in everything.
One of my biggest successes is the 2nd place I got in the youth creative competition Multilingualism is Wealth organised by NGO Zaedno in 2023. I took part in it with two art works and both were also shown in an exhibition in the European House in Prague. On one of my drawings – the black and white girl with red poppy flowers - you can see Motanka (Мотанка). This is an ancient Ukrainian family talisman. Those dolls are the symbol of prosperity, goodness and hope. Each doll is unique and made with only good intentions and sincerity as it is believed that it has power and will act as a protector." |
